Need for Career Counselling

The problems of choosing, preparing for, and entering into careers have existed since the dawn of civilization.
The youth of today is considered the future workers. They manifest certain tendencies and behaviours related to their future work .But their thinking about careers is remote and not realistic. Most of them make the career choice in a random and haphazard manner.
Sometimes Youth take their decision in a very immatured manner,it may be due to influence of parents ,peergroup, society or media.and sometime they choose the wrong path in order to earn instant money, for e-g a Bio-tech student going for the job of call centre.
In India, people have remote thinking regarding various career for instance they feel reluctant to send their child for some fashion designing course,or course for beautician. It is very important to provide counselling not only for children but also for their parents.our educational system is no less responsible for this scenario because it provide less scope for professional and vocational course.
It is very sad to see our youth playing with their future and taking wrong decision.
“In my experience of recruiting executives and managers, I have encountered a large number of intelligent & capable people who have not made right choices or changes in careers and have landed themselves in a situation from which it is difficult to resurrect themselves. At the same time, I have come across people whose career has risen smoothly” A. S. KAZI
It is very important to make them realise the importance of career planning.Fast changing trends and cut throat competition in the job market calls for adequate preparation for getting the job of your dreams. If you are well planned and prepared, you can achieve success with a little effort
According to J.R.D. TATA, “nothing worthwhile is ever achieved without deep thought and hard work. One must forever strive for excellence, or even perfection, in any task, however small, and not be satisfied with the second best. One must think for oneself and never accept at their face value slogans and catch phrases to which unfortunately we are too easily susceptible.”
Challenging scenario in the job market makes it more Important to make yourself academically and professionally

Planning is the first essential step towards building the career. Plan is like a bridge that covers the gap between where we are and where we want to go i.e. it shows the way to reach the destination. If you have no plan, you neither have any destination nor any aim. Planning makes things possible.
Self–Assessment is the first step of the career planning process. One has to know the potentiality keeping in mind the values, interest, personality trait and achievements. However, most of us get confused and get frustrated. A common question that comes to our mind is what is suitable for us.
The following question may help in assessing yourself:
What do I wish to do in my leisure time?
What is the topic I usually want to discuss with my friends and family members?
In which activity I am more interested.
Which areas of work would give me success to the maximum level?
Do I know the various career options?
What is my long-term goal?
What actions I need to take to reach my goal?
How can I maintain my confidence level?
Write your responses on a sheet of paper. You need to have clear perception about yourself
